World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is Friday, June 15.
According to the Berkeley Daily Planet, an elderly person is abused approximately every five seconds. In California alone, elder abuse cases comprise 10.6% of the nation’s recorded elder abuses. The counties with the highest incidence of reported elder abuse cases are: Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Diego County, Riverside County, and Santa Clara County.
