Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company Deferred Annuities-Update on Prior Lawsuits

A class action lawsuit was filed against Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company in 2004 alleging that the company engaged in deceptive sales practices with respect to the sale of deferred annuities.  Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company denied all claims in the complaint.  Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company contended that it has complied with applicable laws relating to the sale of deferred annuities.  Annuities fraud attorneys warn senior citizens that purchasing deferred annuities may not be the best financial option, and to consider all investment opportunities carefully.

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company agreed to settle the case prior to trial.  The settlement class consisted of MassMutual policy holders who had a permanent ownership in policies issued by Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company between January 1, 1983 and December 31, 2003.
