New Ponzi Schemes
Years after the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme was discovered, such fraudulent pyramid schemes are still very much around. Recently, the government arrested three men who posed as investors hawking what turned out to be a $364 million Ponzi scheme. The California securities fraud attorneys at Evans Law Firm, Inc. can represent you if you lose money in a Ponzi scheme or as the result of annuity fraud, insider trading, securities misrepresentations or nondisclosures, accounting fraud or any other type of securities fraud here in California. If you have, call our securities fraud lawyers today at (415)441-8669.
The suspects in the recent case offered investors the opportunity to buy consumer debt portfolios, claiming investors would receive a profitable return. Instead, the men used the money to fund their own lifestyle. According to an Associated Press story covering the arrests, the trio “concealed their diversion of $73 million and bought homes, jewelry and gambled $25 million.” AP reported that the three men conned at least 400 victims nationwide convincing victims that the three had enlisted other third-party investors in the deal.
SEC Whistleblower Program
Victims and those with original information of securities fraud both have reason to bring securities fraud to light. Often, fraudulent securities schemes are brought to light by securities fraud whistleblowers. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Whistleblower Program rewards whistleblowers with original information that leads to enforcement and recovery. Rewards can be 10-30% of the amount recovered, including penalties. If you have credible, original information of any type of securities fraud, call our SEC whistleblower and securities fraud lawyers today, and we can help organize your case for submission to the SEC or other appropriate agency. If you have information don’t just call a government agency as you might jeopardize your chances at a reward. Call counsel such as the whistleblower attorneys at Evans Law Firm first.
